Although Mantiques was recently born....September 2007, it's had a very long gestation period; about 40 years to be exact. Nearly everything in this store was personally collected by me starting at age 14 with the very first sports collectibles, specifically the Roberto Clemente grouping. Having been born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pa our sports section is definitely heavy with Pirates, Steelers and hometown Pittsburgh boxers. But we also have some nice Detroit Pistons items that are hardly ever seen. The physical location of Mantiques is Elmore Ohio, a small village on the southern tip of Ottawa County. The population is a little over 1,680. Now we may be small but we have our own exit on the Ohio Turnpike, Exit 81. As well, we have our own ghost...the Elmore Headless Motorcycle rider!!! Our building, located in the heart of downtown Elmore, was built in 1870 as the Jaeger family hardware store. It remained in the family, as a hardware until 1980. From 1980 until 1995 it was used for various businesses. As the last tenant left, the building was essentially abandoned and began to rapidly decay. We found the building in 2003 nearly destroyed. A vigorous restoration was begun immediately and took the next four years. Mantiques finally, opened for business on September 7, 2007. For more about our new home go to www.villageofelmore.com/
